What is Eat8?
Eat8 is a food ordering website. It was created in 2011 and is dedicated to making ordering takeaways as simple and fast as possible. We have signed up a range of partner restaurants to Eat8 and you can view all their menus and place your order online. We have a wide selection of restaurants available with more being added all the time. To place your order simply carry out a quick postcode search, select your items, then tell us your delivery time/place and confirm your order! We send you an email once your order has been accepted by the restaurant with an approximate delivery time.
How do I order?
Finding a restaurant:
Choosing one of our partner restaurants near you works with a postcode search. Enter your postcode in the box on our home page and click search. We will then show you all restaurants which can provide delivery to your door or from which you can collect your food!
Selecting items (Modifying order):
Once you have chosen a restaurant click on "menu" to view its menu. You will then see the menu sections which are clickable (ie: pizzas) and can view all the items (ie: ham & cheese, Hawaiian...). Many items will have a short description underneath and also many will have "options". By clicking "options" you will see a range of options such as size, base or additional toppings. To add the item click "add to order" this will then add the item to your basket on the left hand side. To cancel an item, click on the item in the basket. This will take you to the item on the menu, you can then click "remove" to cancel this item from your order. To modify a certain item, go back it on the menu, enter your modifications and click 'finish customising', this will modify it in the basket.
Once you have selected your items and wish to order, click "finished" on the basket. This will bring you to the next page where you can log in or create a new user profile. We ask you to become a member in order to facilitate your future orders and keep track of this current order. Your login will be your email address and password of your choice.
What happens next?
Once you have logged in, you can "confirm" your order which will then be transferred to the restaurant. Please ensure that your telephone number is correct as we will be unable to transfer your order if this is not valid.
How do I pay for my order?
Before confirming your order you can choose to pay either "cash on delivery" or many of our restaurants accept card payments online. We use Protx as our gateway and Streamline as our merchant to facilitate the card payment and we use the latest technology to keep your card details secure.
Why is there an admin fee for card payments?
Eat8 must pay for the facility to take payments online on a per transaction basis. As we are simply an intermediary between customers and restaurants we have no choice but to pass this cost onto the customer. Eat8 makes no profit from this admin fee and will look to reduce it as our volumes increase and our costs lower appropriately. Card payment is also a facility that restaurants are unable to offer to delivery customers without an intermediary such as Eat8.co.uk.
How much does it cost?
Using Eat8 to order your takeaway is completely free. We charge no fee to the customers, but take a commission from the restaurant.
What if my card is declined?
In order to prevent fraudulent transactions taking place on the website Eat8 uses the latest technology to verify the card holder's details. If your card is registered for 3D Secure when you confirm your order you will be taken to a separate page where your bank will ask you to enter a password. This works like an online PIN number and verifies to us that you are the card holder. We are unable to accept large card payments from cards that are not registered for 3D secure. If your card is declined please first check that you have entered the correct billing address that appears on your bank statement, this can be a separate address to your delivery address. If you believe that a valid card has been declined please email team@Eat8.co.uk and a member of our team will investigate your situation.
Can I order from many restaurants at a time?
As a customer, you can make as many orders as you wish. However, if you order food from different restaurants, each order has to be confirmed and finalised separately. This means that you have to finish your current order if you want to proceed and make a new order from another restaurant. This is necessary so that Eat8 can send each order to the correct restaurant. Remember that when ordering from a new restaurant there may be a different minimum order value or delivery charge over which Eat8 has no control.
Why should I order on Eat8?
Eat8 is reliable and easy to use. Our aim is to be running the best website for online food ordering in the UK, so we have put great effort into creating a user-friendly website. We are concentrating on sustaining our competitiveness by constantly improving the quality of our service and making developments to the website. You will see us launching new services in the future.
What about restaurant deals?
All restaurants that have offers or deals will have these displayed on the website exactly as they would appear on their menus. It is our job to make sure that we stay in touch with our partner restaurants and keep the information about the deals up to date.
What do I do if there is a problem?
If you have encountered a problem while using Eat8, please do not hesitate to contact us. Customer services will be available at all times when the website is running.
Too long delivery time?
If you have been waiting for an unreasonably long time, contact the restaurant on the number that is provided in your confirmation email. Try to be understanding with delivery drivers fighting through traffic they are nearly always trying their best!
If you have not received your order in full, please call the restaurant on the number provided in your confirmation email. The restaurant is obliged to return with the correct item and should do their best to rectify the situation.
If you are not satisfied with the quality of the food you have received you will be able to leave feedback on the website. Each restaurant has its own feedback that customers who order through Eat8 have left. Eat8 guarantees that all reviews and ratings on the website are genuine and have not been manipulated and that all complaints will be dealt with promptly. However, it should be noted that refunds are not available in cases of dissatisfaction with the food unless there is agreement from the restaurant.
No confirmation e-mail after I placed order?
If you have not received an e-mail confirming your order shortly after you have placed it make sure that you have checked all spam folders. Even if the first email has been received the second may be diverted by some email clients into the spam folder. If you still have not received the confirmation email you can check by emailing us at team@Eat8.co.uk.
How do I recommend my favourite restaurant?
If your favourite restaurant isn't listed then just send us an email to team@Eat8.co.uk and we will do our best to sign them up.
What is the membership? Why do you need my details and are they secure?
Once you become a member you can place orders, and for future orders you do not have to enter your address again. We keep your details secure and will never pass them on to any person or organisation other than the restaurant you have ordered from. We only ask for essential information to process your order and only use it for this purpose.
Can I order by telephone?
Eat8.co.uk is online! Everything is on the site to enable you to order online.
When should I contact Eat8 staff?
If you are totally unsatisfied with the response that a restaurant has given you then please email team@Eat8.co.uk and a member of our team will call you back. Please note that we can't negotiate refunds on behalf of restaurant owners and it is up to the restaurant owner to make those decisions.
When can I rate my last order?
The day after your order you will receive an email containing a link where you can leave feedback for the restaurant. Please leave honest and objective feedback that reflects the overall experience of ordering from this restaurant.
